In traditional Chinese culture, it has been the custom from ancient times to the present day to celebrate the 100th day of a baby. The 100th day ritual dates to at least the Song Dynasty and signifies that the newborn baby will live a long and healthy life. As a baby of Wellington College China, Hiba Academy Nantong is celebrating its 100th day today!

The greenery on the trees signals the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The pupils running on the green field seemed to have been infused with the energy of spring. The sound of laughter blows in every corner of the campus with the spring breeze.
Founder and Chairman,Joy Qiao gave a speech. Her dream is to provide the best bilingual education in the world, blending the best of Western and Chinese pedagogy to create a bilingual education model that is fit for Chinese children. This dream has been realized in our Hiba School.
Before establishing Hiba School, she imagined in her head what our future Hiba pupils would look like and what kind of people they would grow up to be. She wanted our children to have a deep love of our country, a clear identity as Chinese people, and to be immersed in the 5,000 years of our country's rich and profound history and culture. At the same time, she also hope that our children will become a bridge and a link for communication and cooperation with people from all over the world, and that they will be able to communicate fluently in English in academic, cultural and all other areas.
I want our children to have a solid academic foundation, to be hard-working, to be individual, to be physically fit, to have their own interests, to be independent thinkers, to have the ability to communicate and collaborate with others, and to have leadership skills. More importantly, I want children to have a heartfelt love of learning and life. As I walk around the campus today and join the children in the celebration of their 100th day activities at school, I can already see these shining identities sprouting in the children. The children of all ages in each house worked with each other to complete their group tasks; I could see the smiles on the children's faces at every part of the game; they did not give up easily when they encountered a problem, and although they competed with each other, the children were kind and friendly. The children's growth can be felt in all the little details. We hope that you will enjoy your time at Hiba School and grow up to be inspired, independent, intellectual, inclusive and individual Hiba people in the future.
The Master, Mr. Simon Kenworthy, gave a speech in which he thanked the teachers for their hard work over the past 100 school days and was delighted by the remarkable progress made by the pupils; he was also delighted by the growing Hiba community...“We aspire to create a caring, bilingual community that develops well-rounded individuals with strong values and the skills to thrive within an ever-changing global society.”
At the end of the celebration, members of the Hiba community shared a sweet cake, from tongues to their hearts, with the sweetness and joy of the 100th day swirling around them.
100 days is more than 14 weeks, is 2,400 hours, is 144,000 minutes, is 864,0000 seconds. We joined the pupils to see the beautiful campus fade from gold to turquoise. The novelty and timidity of the pupils' first days on campus have faded with time and have been replaced by a love of the life they have and the joy of making friends. We provide a learning environment that promotes the Hiba Identity; pupils who are Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive, and expect them to enjoy a happy childhood with the brightest of smiles.
