Generation Z, often referred to as the "Net Generation," "Internet Generation," and "Digital Media Indigenous," is the generation that was born between 1995 and 2009 and was raised with access to the Internet. They have reaped the benefits of the information explosion and quickly assimilated the knowledge amassed by their forebears from numerous sources. They tend to be quite individualistic, fearless in their expression, and experience driven.
The important transitional period between middle school and high school has now been reached by the youngest "Z-graders" or will be reached shortly. With high school as a gateway to university, the importance of this period for your child is clear. As a result, choosing a suitable high school for your child that maximises your child's development and provides a good foundation for your child to enter the university of their choice has become a top priority for many parents.
Since the opening of school, we have received a lot of parental inquiries about the high school. As a result, we will start offering Grade 10 pupil in September a customised Pre A-Level course to aid pupils in making the transition from middle school to high school and to prepare them for the A-Level course.
A-Level
The grading system for examination results in each subject at A-level is made up of seven grades - A*, A, B, C, D, E and U - with A* indicating the highest grade.
In the case of Chemistry at University of Oxford, for example, applicants are required to take Chemistry and Mathematics as two of their subjects and a third subject in Science or Further Mathematics with A*, A* and A grades at A-level, which is very demanding for applicants.
The requirements vary between majors at the same university. For example, the Economics and Management at University of Oxford, does not require as many restrictions on candidates' majors as the Chemistry major. The major requires applicants to take a major in mathematics and to have an A-level grade of A*, A, A or above.
Because of the broader university education system and the deepening difficulty of knowledge, pupils are required to build a firm foundation before they can enrol. Therefore, many universities will advise or require pupils to take certain core courses when applying to certain majors. Based on the entirety of Wellington College China’s university application experience and considering the actual situation of our pupils, the academic team at Hiba Academy Nantong has carefully tailored the curriculum to suit our pupils.
