Nantong is the last ecological barrier before the Yangtze River flows into the sea. After years of hard work, the ecological environment here has continued to improve, becoming a perfect habitat for the Yangtze finless porpoise.
In order to encourage more people to join to finless porpoise conservation, to deepen the concept of protecting the Yangtze finless porpoise, and to spread environmental protection concepts more scientifically and efficiently, the Nantong Government joined hands with China Radio International Online to hold a series of activities to protect the Yangtze finless porpoise. Today, Liu Chi, vice President of China Media Group International Online, and Yu Yuesong, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nantong Suxitong Science and Technology Industrial Park, attended the ceremony at Hiba Academy Nantong.
As an important place for social education, schools have an important responsibility to cultivate pupils' awareness of environmental and animal protection. So we are proud to participate in the Yangtze finless porpoise conservation activities. To participate more deeply in it, Hiba Academy Nantong will offer unique and distinctive courses about the Yangtze finless porpoise. Mr Simon Kenworthy (Master of Hiba Academy Nantong) and Ms Suisui Yu (Principal of Hiba Academy Nantong) shared the significance of offering courses during an interview.
We hope to help pupils understand the ecological environment and conservation status of the Yangtze finless porpoise. We so hope to cultivate their environmental awareness and social responsibility and make positive contributions to finless porpoise conservation and ecological environment construction. We believe authentic learning can make our pupils future problem-solvers. During the Theme lessons for primary and Social Studies classes for Junior High, theme-related education and project-based learning allow our pupils a profound understanding of the complex relationships between humans and the environment. Last year, pupils explored hydropower along the Yangtze River, and the Nursery children had a river bank cleanup project on Earth Day. This year, the Geography Club will lead a study of endangered animals in China, and the Yangtze River Dolphin will be essential to the study.
Hiba Academy Nantong has always been committed to providing high-quality and holistic bilingual education. We hope to help pupils cultivate lofty aspirations to serve society and contribute to creating a better environmental future . At the same time, we will also leverage close cooperation between home and school, connect with local communities, and carry out more public welfare activities.
Humankind and nature are part of the same ecological community. The successful implementation of this event is beneficial in allowing more people to understand and pay attention to the importance of Yangtze River ecological protection, thereby promoting the society's attention and action towards ecological protection. Let us all become protectors, builders, and beneficiaries of the ecological environment.
