On 28th October, Grade 5 pupils from all our sister schools gathered here in Nantong to participate in the 2nd Wellington College China Games. This grand sports event aims to promote interaction and cooperation amongst schools in the Wellington group. Through working together on the sports field, pupils can exercise their teamwork, demonstrate their determination and athletic talents, and establish deep friendships. This is not only a competition between different teams, but also a shared growth experience.
This event brought together 249 Grade 5 pupils who formed eight teams and competed in six major events: frisbee, tag-rugby, benchball, volleyball, football and hockey.
Simon Kenworthy, the Master of Hiba Academy Nantong, said: "We are honoured to host the Wellington Games. It is not only a grand competition, but also an important moment for us to unite our schools and demonstrate the spirit of sports and the pursuit of excellence together. We hope that through the Wellington Games, children can experience the joy of sports and competition together, whilst deepening friendships and personal growth."
Sports play a crucial role in the growth of pupils, not only cultivating their physical fitness but also honing their character, leadership skills, teamwork, and courage to face challenges. These qualities will help propel their future growth. Sports are also an important component of the Hiba holistic education, and actively engaging in sports has a positive impact on pupils' physical and mental health and happiness.
Finally, congratulations to the green team who were this year’s winners, and we look forward to more of these sorts of events in the future.
