As the first snow falls, we welcomed the annual winter concert of Hiba Academy Nantong.
Carmen Mah, our Music Teacher said: “The annual concert allows every pupil in the school to participate and showcase their talents on stage. Most of the performances are class-based, and in order to present each part successfully, pupils learn teamwork during rehearsals. We also see that besides singing, pupils have more opportunities to experience a variety of instruments such as Orff instruments, ukuleles, guitars, piano keyboards, etc., which expand their interests.”
The collision between classical and pop music
In this year's concert, there were both classical musical performances and innovative interpretations by modern pop bands. This collision between classical and pop music made the entire concert feel more contemporary and modern. Pupils blended traditional classical music and modern pop music together through their creativity and imagination, creating a new style of music and performance. This spirit of innovation and exploration is exactly what Hiba advocates.
The gains and growth during performances
“This is my first attempt at chamber ensemble playing, which is different from my previous solo performance experience. This time, everyone is responsible for different parts, and while ensuring their own performance is completed, they also need to pay attention to coordination. It was a very unforgettable experience!”

“The piece we played in our keyboard ensemble was originally written for a string quartet. Although I play the piano, I really wanted to try learning the cello, so I could play this piece with the deep and melodious sound of the cello.”
G7 Angela
As shared by the pupils, through this concert, they not only honed their skills and won the warm applause of the audience with their brilliant performances; they also developed a stronger love for music and cherished the opportunity to create beautiful music together with each other.
The growing bond established through music
I was delighted to see the Nursery children participating in this year's concert. My daughter has participated in choir before, but this year was different. She was not just a performer, but also a role model for younger children in rehearsals and performances. This cross-age collaboration allowed me to see more shining points of pride in her.

At Hiba, music is like an "invisible thread" that connects children, teachers, and parents together. This year's cross-age collaboration not only allowed children to exercise their musical abilities, but also taught them to respect and help each other. The teachers' performances also gave the pupils a new performing experience.
The winter concert was full of vitality, with the pupils showcasing their talents and artistic abilities. The power of music united everyone. At Hiba Nantong, we focus on cultivating pupils' innovative spirit and comprehensive qualities, so that they can stand out in future competitions. At the same time, we also hope to help pupils develop their personalities and interests, so that each pupil can find their own passions and potential and maximize their self-worth.
