08 Jan 2025

As we reflect on the calendar year, it’s inspiring to see the profound achievements and unforgettable moments that have shaped Hiba Academy Nantong. Here are some highlights that demonstrate the diverse and extensive growth of our pupils and community.

We started the semester with an enthusiastic "Back to School Day," attended by 107 parents, marking a strong engagement from our community right from the start. Our efforts to enhance transparency were met with positive feedback as we published curriculum maps, fostering a deeper understanding of our educational approach among parents.

In the realm of competitions and accolades, our pupils have truly excelled. We proudly won 2 gold medals and 5 silver medals at the Yale Champion Round of the World Scholar's Cup. Our football teams have been particularly active and successful, celebrating numerous wins. In the AMC Maths Competition, we achieved notable results with 1 National High Distinction, 4 National Distinctions, 3 National Credits, and 7 National Proficiency awards.

Our commitment to the arts and literature was showcased through two English poetry competitions, with exceptional progress in English reading as pupils improved by 14 months within just 9 months of teaching. We hosted our first thematically-based exhibition with 72 parents in attendance along with our inaugural A-Level Art exhibition, marking significant milestones in our artistic endeavors.

We celebrated our first Friendship Week and House Chant, building a strong sense of community and belonging. Our pupils had their first experience with the Model United Nations, fostering global awareness and diplomatic skills. The 3rd WCC Games reflected our continued dedication to promoting athletic excellence.

Boarding experiences were enriched by taster nights, which saw 52 children signing up, highlighting the growing interest in our boarding program. We also participated in an ICT Hackathon in Shanghai, encouraging our pupils' technological capabilities.

Pupil leadership was a focus this semester with the appointment of Head Girl and Boy, Heads of House, Mental Health Champions, Student Council, and Boarding Representatives, all contributing to a vibrant school culture. We ran our Chinese language club for the first time and expanded to two English language clubs. The academic staff’s involvement in helping with prep has been invaluable.

Our 2nd Charity Walk had a powerful impact, changing the lives of children in Suxitong Park.

Finally, we wrapped up 2024 with a well deserved recognition as one of the High Teaching Quality Schools at the 2024 REIS Chinese International Schools Awards Ceremony.

As we near the end of this incredible calendar year, we would like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of our school. Your hard work, dedication, and unwavering support have been instrumental in making this calendar year a remarkable success.
