Weekly Roundup

14 Apr 2025

This week, our campus was brimming with exciting activities and inspiring news. Let’s take a look back at the highlights and get ready for the busy week ahead!

This week, we hosted a "Taster Evening" for pupils in Grade 7 and above, where many of them experienced boarding life firsthand and felt the warmth and vibrancy of our boarding community. Additionally, we welcomed Mr. Richard Watts from the UK, who will be joining us as the Deputy Head of Boarding. Mr. Watts visited the school this week and made preparations for the weekend activities planned for next semester. We also held a "Coffee with the Boarding Team" event, where boarding parents had the opportunity to meet and chat with our boarding leadership, gaining deeper insights into the boarding experience.

Meanwhile, our faculty and staff from the Nantong campus attended the Festival of Education in Shanghai. They joined leading educators, industry experts, and cross-disciplinary thought leaders at Wellington College International Shanghai to explore and shape the future of education together.

The spotlight this week was on our purchasing department, which handles over 200 orders annually, amounting to approximately 30,000 items of equipment. Their efforts ensure that teaching and learning are never interrupted by delays or shortages.

In terms of pupil achievements, our Grade 5 pupils truly shone this week! Kyle and Shirley from Grade won first prize and a special award, respectively, at the Jiangsu Speech Star performance, showcasing their exceptional language skills. Similarly, Sandy and Nina from Grade 5 supported each other in their English studies, continuously improving their writing and demonstrating a positive attitude toward learning. Moreover, William from G2B class  not only actively participates in class interactions and eagerly raises his hand to answer questions, but also shows immense kindness towards his classmates. Through his actions, he embodies the Hiba values of kindness and courage, adding a vibrant touch to the class atmosphere.

Next week promises to be both busy and exciting! The Hiba Academy Nantong Spirit Week will kick off with a series of themed days: Monday is "Clean Plate Day" (focusing on food sustainability), Tuesday is "International Day" (celebrating cultures from around the world), Thursday is "Earth Day," and Friday is "Pink Shirt Day" (promoting anti-bullying). Additionally, our pupils will participate in the Battle of the Books and a cross-school math competition . We wish all participants the best of luck and look forward to seeing them shine in these activities!

See you next week!
