Weekly Roundup

12 May 2025

Our senior pupils have entered the AS-Level examination period, and we wish them all the best. Meanwhile, younger pupils have shown solid progress through NGRT English assessments and Progress Tests in English. On Wednesday, Joy Qiao, Founder and Chairman of Wellington College China, paid a special visit, meeting with representatives from our international families to learn more about their educational needs.

This week, we shine a spotlight on our Friends of Hiba committee. These volunteers contribute their time and energy, organising events like the October Charity Walk and the June Summer Carnival.

Special recognition goes to our swimming team for their outstanding performance at the Rockstars Swim championship, with Grade 6 pupils Kaiyi, Gary, Alisa and Grade 5 pupil Julian securing multiple first-place finishes. EY4 pupil Rachel earned her foundational figure skating certification, while Grade 8 pupil Ethan put the Hiba value of responsibility into action when he uprighted fallen road barriers during strong winds.

Looking ahead, our Grade 4 and 5 pupils will compete in the Hiba Athletic Cup in Shanghai next week. We will be holding our Grade 3-4 Boarding Taster Nights and the much-anticipated psychodrama Confidence & Family will premiere at Thursday's assembly. Developed by counsellor Sara to build pupils' self-esteem, this production serves as both a psychological education opportunity for parents and staff, emphasising mental health awareness and family dynamics.

Finally, our Thursday evening Staff Appreciation Dinner, organised by FOH, will provide an opportunity for parents to express gratitude to the educators who inspire these young minds.

Every member enriches our Hiba story—we look forward to seeing you next week.
