Weekly Roundup

19 May 2025

This week at Hiba Academy Nantong, we celebrated more moments of collective achievement among our teachers and pupils.

Our Grade 11 pupils have been working hard on their AS Level examinations in subjects including Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics and History. Meanwhile, our parent workshops received excellent feedback. Through sessions on university guidance and behavioural support, parents shared how much they gained.

A special highlight was Thursday’s performance of A Psychological Journey: Be You, Be More, the third part of our psychological drama series. This staff and pupil collaboration offered a powerful story, showing how family relationships can deeply affect mental wellbeing.

On Thursday evening, a meticulously planned teacher appreciation dinner, organised by  Friends of Hiba, warmly commenced on campus. Amid the convivial atmosphere, parent representatives extended their deepest gratitude to the dedicated teaching staff, acknowledging their tireless efforts in nurturing every young learner's growth with unwavering care.

This week, we also shine a light on our Pupil Leadership Programme. Head Boy Filipe and Head Girl Lynn have shown outstanding leadership and selfless dedication, acting as inspiring role models throughout the school. We look forward to seeing even more pupils step into leadership roles as the new term progresses.

In recent weeks, our Grade 5 pupils have achieved remarkable success across a range of areas, showing their all-round abilities. Aimee secured third place in the Wellington College China Chinese Writing Competition. Joyce and Ingrid each earned 100 house points for their houses after six months of dedication in the Reading Champions Competition. Our sports stars, led by Barbara and Julian, excelled at last week’s Hiba Athletic Cup, winning 15 awards.

We will be holding the Nursery Sports Day and Art Exhibition on 22 May. The Art Exhibition will showcase an outstanding collection of student work from this academic year. On 23 May, the whole-school Sports Day will take place. On 25 May, our swimming team will travel to Shanghai to compete in the inter-school swimming competition—best of luck to them!
