Last Saturday, pupils from across Wellington College Education (China) schools gathered in Nantong for the fourth Wellington Games, a celebration of athletic skill, teamwork and the friendships that form when schools meet on and off the field.

“As well as being a lot of fun, this year's Wellington Games provided direct competition between our WCEC schools. Boys and girls competed in football, basketball, swimming and athletics, and whilst the competition was fierce, the ethos was still one of friendly rivalry.”

 — Simon Kenworthy

Master

Five teams and 120 pupils from Wellington College International Tianjin, Wellington College International Shanghai, Hiba Academy Shanghai, Wellington College Education (China) – Hangzhou and host school Hiba Academy Nantong competed across four core sports: swimming, athletics, basketball and football.

In the pool, pupils delivered strong performances in freestyle and breaststroke, and the 4×100m relay highlighted exceptional teamwork.

“It was such a joy to see our young athletes try their best, support one another, and light up with pride — no matter the result. We’re deeply proud of each one of them!”

At the end of the festival, Hiba Academy Shanghai claimed the overall title, recognised for both performance and resilience.
